Scarantino’s sentencing is postponed

SCRANTON -- The sentencing for former Pittston+Area+School+District%22>Pittston Area School District Superintendent Ross Scarantino has been re-scheduled for Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the federal courthouse in Scranton.

Scarantino pleaded guilty on May 29 to a federal charge accepting a kickback in exchange for his influence in the awarding of a contract in the school district.

He was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday. U.S. District Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie signed an order Monday postponing the sentencing to Oct. 8, based on the request of Scarantino’s attorney, Frank Nocito. Nocito requested the delay because he is scheduled to attend a pre-paid seminar on Thursday.
