Sentencing for director continued

SCRANTON – The sentencing for former Wilkes-Barre Area School Board member James Height on charges he accepted a bribe has been continued until March 9.

Height, 53, was scheduled to be sentenced today before U.S. District Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie, but the hearing was postponed due to a scheduling conflict with his attorney.

Height pleaded guilty on May 29 to accepting $2,000 from a contractor in exchange for helping the contractor secure contracts in the Wilkes-Barre Area District and at the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical School, where Height also served on the board.
