Investigator given permission to review juvenile transcripts

HARRISBURG - An investigator for the commission investigating failings with the Luzerne County juvenile system has been granted permission to review the transcripts of 51 cases that were examined by the special master appointed to review cases handled by former judge Mark Ciavarella.

Senior Berks County Judge Arthur Grim filed a court order today with the state Supreme Court that grants William Fisher permission to review the transcripts. Fisher will be permitted to take notes, but he may not photo copy or duplicate the transcripts without prior permission from Grim.

Fisher is one of the investigators working for the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice. The commission had requested permission to review the transcripts as part of its investigation into the juvenile justice scandal.

The commission has already held two public hearings on the matter. It is scheduled to hold a third hearing in Plains Township on Monday and Tuesday.
