PITTSBURGH (AP) — The former director of the National Security Agency and the CIA says he wasn’t surprised when four protesters interrupted his lecture at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/1UC8bkt) reports that 71-year-old Gen. Michael Hayden referred to the title of his new book, “Playing to the Edge,” which he hoped would get across the message that “this is not as simple as you think.”

Hayden discusses such issues as drone attacks, waterboarding and monitoring emails and phone conversations. He said he knows some actions have been controversial, but “this is a field of gray” and there is “no clear black and white.”

Duquesne police say two of the protesters were carried out in handcuffs. Prosecutors will be consulted before police decide whether to charge them with causing a disturbance.
