Hazleton Area boys top Williamsport

HAZLETON — Sal Biasi led a trio of Cougars in double figures as Hazleton Area defeated Williamsport 61-53 Thursday night in a boys basketball non-conference game.

Biasi finished with 30 followed by Jon Fogarty with 13 and Kyle Karmonick with 10. Hazleton Area improved to 12-2 overall, strengthening its lead atop the District 2-4 Class 4A standings. Williamsport fell to 6-7 overall and into third place in the D2-4 Class 4A standings.

The Cougars outscored Williamsport 16-8 in the second quarter and then used a quick burst to start the third to keep the Millionaires at arm’s length. Penn State recruit Isaiah Washington led Williamsport with 23 points.

Crestwood 67, Berwick 15

Chris Fazzini scored 17 points as Crestwood defeated Berwick in a WVC Division I game.

Luke Casey added 15 points as the Comets improved to 5-1 in the division and 11-3 overall.

Berwick fell to 1-5 and 2-12.
