GAR (0-3) at Northwest (3-0)
7 p.m. today
The Coaches: GAR’s Paul Wiedlich Jr. (29-11, 4th year); Northwest’s Carl Majer (36-23, 6th year)
Last Meeting: GAR 35-7 in 2012
All-Time Series: GAR leads 9-1
Quick Fact: Northwest didn’t score in last year’s game until early in the fourth quarter.
Scouting GAR: The Grenadiers were shut out for the first time in 12 games last Friday in a 27-0 loss to Carbondale. The offense is really struggling and didn’t help matters by giving up a pick-6 to the Chargers. The unit finished with just 96 yards and hasn’t topped 200 since the opener. The defense was solid despite and shut down Carbondale in the second half.
Scouting Northwest: The Rangers made it three in a row with a 42-0 rout of Holy Cross. QB Logan Womelsdorf has thrown four TD passes in the last two games, while RB Austin Mazonkey had rushed for 373 yards in that same span. The run defense has been good so far, allowing just 78.6 yards per game and 2.9 yards per carry. However, the competition hasn’t been overly strong in that department.
What To Expect: This game is a hard one to figure out. GAR isn’t as bad as its record indicates, nor is Northwest as good as its record shows. That’s based on who each team has played so far.
