GAR (1-4) at Lake-Lehman (4-1)

7 p.m. today

The Coaches: GAR’s Paul Wiedlich Jr. (30-12, 4th year); Lehman’s Jerry Gilsky (22-15, 4th year)

Last Meeting: GAR 35-26 in 2012

All-Time Series: GAR leads 29-13-2

Quick Fact: GAR has won the last three meetings, including a D2-2A playoff victory in 2010.

Scouting GAR: The Grenadiers had their hands full with Holy Redeemer last Saturday before scoring three TDs in the last six minutes for a 35-14 win. Rashaun Mathis and Rashaun Jackson returned interceptions for touchdowns, the first time GAR has scored on defense all season. RB Rich Sickler (182 yards) had a big game, but overall the offense still needs some tinkering. A good sign is the team as a whole is getting better after some inconsistency early on.

Scouting Lake-Lehman: It wasn’t pretty but the Black Knights eked out a 14-10 win over Meyers last Friday. They started all five first-half possessions inside their 20-yard line and didn’t dig out of the hole until the third quarter. The offense continues to lean heavily to the ground game and that’s not expected to change. The defense was stout as Meyers didn’t cross the goal line until the final seconds. DBs Jimmy Stuart and Josh Winters came up with key interceptions.

What To Expect: GAR’s three-game winning streak over Lehman to end as the Grenadiers haven’t fared well against run-oriented opponents such as Dunmore and Northwest.
