    Sylvester “Jack” Traver Sr., 89, of Noxen, died Tuesday at Tyler Memorial
   
Hospital, TunkhannockBorn Dec. 3, 1907 in Noxen, he was the son of the late
David and Florence Patton Traver.
   
He was a lifelong resident of Noxen.
   
He was employed by the Armour Leather Co., Noxen, for 30 years, and the
Benton Foundry for 12 years, retiring 17 years ago.
   
He was a member of St. Luke’s Reformation Lutheran Church, Noxen.
   
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nina Blizzard, in 1995;
brothers, Ashley, James, Alfred, Richard and Emra; sisters, Stella Whispell,
Mary Hopfer and Ruth Traver.
   
Surviving are sons, Hiram, Harry and Sylvester “Jack” Jr., all of Noxen;
Stephen, Dallas; daughters, Mrs. Donald (Leona) Cook, Tunkhannock; Mrs.
Richard (Nettie) Ladner, Rockingham, N.C.; Mrs. Frederick (Gypsy) Hanadel,
Mrs. George (Ada) Shefler and Mrs. Gene (Jane) Scott, all of Noxen; a sister,
Clara Traver, Evans Falls; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six
great-great-grandchildren.
   
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Curtis L. Swanson
Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev.
David Williams, pastor of St. Luke’s Reformation Lutheran Church, officiating.
   
Interment will be in Orcutt Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
