NANTICOKE — Nanticoke broke the game open with four goals in the second half en route to a 6-0 shutout victory over GAR on Thursday in Wyoming Valley Conference boys soccer. Rees Roberts scored two goals, and Ed Lukowski pitched in with a goal and two assists.

Wiston Godoy added a goal and an assist for the Trojans. Dave Stecco also scored for Nanticoke.

Camelo Pioquinto and Joe Olszyk combined for six saves for a clean sheet. Tino Altavilla made nine saves for the Grenadiers.


Holy Redeemer 10, Hazleton Area 2

Lydia Lawson enjoyed a 12-point effort with four goals and four assists for Holy Redeemer. Emily Schramm scored two goals and two assists.

Hazleton Area’s Josie Zapotsky and Madison Polumbo each scored a goal for the Cougars.

Dallas 11, Nanticoke 2

Tiffany Zukosky manufactured two goals and three assists for the Mountaineers. Ruby Mattson helped with two goals and an assist.

Nanticoke’s Riley Klepaldo and Elizabeth Mulhern each had a goal and an assist.


Misericordia 5, Marywood 1

Misericordia scored four first half goals for its second victory of the season. Allie Elmes scored two goals. Rebecca Hindman and Lindsay Hischak both added a goal and assist for the Cougars. Emily Hegner added a goal for the Cougars.

Angela Pasquini made two saves in goal to earn the win.


Stevenson 2, Wilkes 1

The Colonels held tough with No. 10 Stevens despite losing 2-1 on Wednesday evening. After the Ducks scored in the 27th, the Colonels tied it in the 39th minute on a goal by Eric McAnena. Senior Geoffrey Arentz played a superb through ball that McAnena ran onto took a touch and slotted the ball on the ground into a wide open far post, to tie the score at one.

Stevens got the game-winning goal in the 54th minute from Curtis Stecyk.
