James A. Denby, 78, of Clifton, N.J., died Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Born in Luzerne, he lived in Berwick and Hatboro before moving to Clifton in 1967.

James was a son of the late Anthony and Marian (Miller).

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Korean War.

James attended Brown University and was the owner of Waldorf Liquors in Passaic, N.J., for 25 years, as well as a real estate entrepreneur, retiring in 1992.

He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Hope (Bogard); devoted father of Judy H. Amato and her husband, Steven, of Robbinsville, N.J., and James R. of Clifton; loving grandfather of Alexandra and Amanda Amato; dear brother of the late Elizabeth Collura and Richard.

Funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, N.J. Interment will be in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
