Each year some 50 million animals are slaughtered worldwide simply for their fur. Fox, mink, raccoon. And in places where they can get away with it, dogs and cats. But a grim loophole is allowing fashion retailers to get all the fur they want from another helpless animal, and all without reporting a single murderous statistic.
So many rabbits are now slaughtered they are the fastest growing part of the fur trade. It’s because their pelts are considered a “byproduct” of bunny meat. So their suffering flies under the radar.
Fashion retailers do not want you to know any of this. They don’t want you to know this “byproduct” fur is then shipped by the metric ton to China, where the snow-white pelts are subjected without environmental regulation to intense dyes and treatments at rock-bottom prices. Sometimes it is so cheap that real fur is purposely mislabeled as “faux” or fake.
We need to set off a media firestorm that will expose the lies, halt the sale of rabbit fur and put an end to the torture.
Refuse to buy items of fur or trim. Support stores that don’t sell fur. Get in touch with designers, manufacturers, stores, catalogs and ask them to stop producing, selling and promoting fur. Inform others on the horrors of the fur trade.
