LARKSVILLE — The Larksville Police Department has announced that former Wilkes-Barre officer Daniel Duffy will be joining its force as a part-timer.

Duffy was fired in October by Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tony George as part of an ongoing dispute between the police union and city administration. The union has already started the grievance process to get Duffy reinstated.

Duffy was a member of Wilkes-Barre’s force since 2014 and vice president of the police union, plus an instructor at the Lackawanna College Police Academy in Scranton and former Scranton police chief.

“Officer Duffy brings with him years of experience, not only as a law enforcement officer, but as an instructor in numerous law enforcement disciplines,” the Larksville Police Department wrote in a statement on its Facebook page. “We are fortunate to have him as an addition to our department, and the Larksville community.”
