WILKES-BARRE — For the second time in a little more than a week a water main broke on East Union Street, flooding the roadway and closing it to traffic.

It was unknown at press time how many Pennsylvania American Water Co. customers were affected.

City police and fire department personnel shut down East Union between North Main and North Washington streets shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday.

The break appeared to be in front of the Phoenix Plaza at 22 E.Union St. and water flowed toward North Washington Street.

On March 1, the water company had to repair two breaks, including one on Union Street.
