WILKES-BARRE — City police Lt. Steve Olshefski said Monday no reports have been filed with the department or with county 911 regarding a child tied to a light pole during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.

A picture of the child tied to the pole was posted on Facebook and has generated more than 100 comments as of Monday afternoon.

Olshefski said police are aware of the picture.

“We don’t know specifics surrounding the picture,” Olshefski said. “We don’t know if the parents are there. If they were, then there is no crime. If the parents are in a bar, then that is a different story.”

The picture was taken as parade-goers gathered along South Main Street. From images in the background, it appears the child was tied to the light post at South Main and West South streets.

Anyone with information about the child is asked to call Wilkes-Barre police at 570-826-8106 or 911.
