WILKES-BARRE — A swaying utility pole has closed South Main Street between Ross and South streets.

City firefighters closed South Main Street at about 1 p.m. on concerns the pole would topple. The pole in front of the Verizon building is swaying back and forth from its base due to gusty winds.

Assistant Fire Chief Ed Snarski said the pole will be taken down estimating South Main Street will be closed for about one hour.
