Misericordia University recently presented alumna Agnes Toloczko Cardoni, Ph.D., with the Alumni Association Mission Award at the annual Alumni Awards dinner. Dr. Cardoni, of Dupont, is a lifelong educator who taught and mentored young writers. The Wilkes-Barre native received her bachelor’s degree from Misericordia in 1969 and soon began a teaching career that spanned 33 years in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, primarily at James M. Coughlin High School. Cardoni also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Choral Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania and has served Misericordia as a class agent and mentor in the Volunteer Program. The Mission Award is given periodically during Alumni Weekend to an alumna/alumnus who exemplifies the Mission as set forth by the Religious Sisters of Mercy.
