PLYMOUTH TWP. — Rescue crews retrieved a body from the Susquehanna River in Plymouth Township this evening.

Luzerne County received a report at 6:09 p.m. that a body was seen in the river in an area just south of the intersection of U.S. Route 11 and state Route 29 in the West Nanticoke section of Plymouth Township.

The Plymouth Township Fire-Rescue Tilbury Station, Hanover Township Fire and Hunlock Creek Fire departments were dispatched. The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at 6:21 p.m., a 911 supervisor said.

State police were also at the scene, but officials there did not release any information about the victim.

Personnel with the Coroner’s office loaded the body into a vehicle at about 7:50 p.m.
