Helen Polanchik, 82, of Old Forge, died April 22, 2009 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.
Born in Duryea, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Vrabel Martin. She was the valedictorian of Duryea High School, Class of 1944. Prior to her retirement, she was a state employee. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea. She resided in Old Forge most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Polanchik, who passed away on Aug. 12, 2006; a brother, John Martin; and a sister, Joan Kundrat.
She is survived by a son, Bruce Polanchik, of Old Forge; sister Carol Marriott, of Duryea; and a nephew.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc, 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call on Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
