Holiday Time Fiction for Adults

“Christmas is Murder,” by C. S. Challinor. Instead of Christmas cheer at a secluded Victorian hotel in the English countryside, barrister Rex Graves finds a dead guest, and when more guests die, all hopes for a jolly holiday are dashed. Snowbound and terrified, no one, it seems, can escape the cold-blooded killer.

“Cat Deck the Halls,” by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. At midnight in the deserted gardens of a shopping plaza in a charming seaside California village, a stranger lies dead beneath the village Christmas tree, the only witness to the shooting a little child. Instead of singing carols and climbing into Christmas trees, wily tomcat, Joe Grey, feline P. I., is faced with his most difficult case yet.
“The Christmas Sweater,” by Glenn Beck. The Christmas morning 12-year old Eddie received a handmade sweater from his mother, instead of the dream bike which was all he wanted, was the beginning of his dark and painful journey on the road to manhood and his realization of the true significance of the simple gift his mother had made with love in her heart.
“Plum Pudding Murder,” by Joanne Fluke. The yuletide season in Lake Eden, Minnesota, guarantees a white Christmas, delectable holiday goodies from Hannah Swenson’s bakery, The Cookie Jar — and murder. With the twelve days of Christmas ticking away and the clock winding down on a holiday wedding for which she must bake the cake, Hannah’s running out of time to investigate the death of erstwhile Christmas tree salesman, Larry Jaeger.
