Misericordia University students Jonathan Grybos of Shamokin, left, and Katie O’Hearn of Scranton release balloons on Sunday outside the Sandy & Marlene Insalaco Hall on campus during the ‘Party 4 Life’ event to benefit The Lucy Fund. The balloon-release portion of Sunday’s program was actually canceled due to inclement weather, but Grybos and O’Hearn decided to hold their own impromptu ceremony. All proceeds from the event support the National Foundation for Cancer Research at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Sophomore Nicholas Stankovick, whose mother was diagnosed with State IV metastatic breast cancer in 2008, organized the event this year. Lucy Stankovick lived with the disease for 4 1/2 years and organized five Party 4 Life events herself.
