BLOOMSBURG—Chase DiFebbo’s caught an 11-yard scoring pass with 46 seconds left to lift Shippensburg University (7-2, 5-1 PSAC East) past No. 3 Bloomsburg University (8-1, 5-1 PSAC East), 28-27, on Saturday in a PSAC Eastern Division showdown.
DiFebbo’s catch of the throw from his brother Chad DiFebbo capped a 15-play, 79-yard drive for Shippensburg. Kyler Ford converted the extra point to put Shippensburg in front 28-27 with 46 seconds to go.
Bloomsburg would drive out to its own 47-yard line, but quarterback Dan Latorre was sacked on the game’s final play giving Shippensburg the victory. Both teams are now tied for the PSAC East lead with one game to play. Should the teams remain tied after next week, the Red Raiders would play for the PSAC championship based on head-to-head competition.
Kenny Domzalski finished with 121 yards rushing and two scores for Bloomsburg.
Lehigh 35, Bucknell 16
LEWISBURG — JB Clark threw for a season-high 327 yards and one touchdown and ran for another score to lead Lehigh past Bucknell.
Clark was 24-for-37 for the Mountain Hawks (2-5, 2-0 Patriot League) and threw a 5-yard scoring pass to Alex Wojdowski with 5 seconds left in the first half for a 21-7 lead.
Jake Drwal caught nine passes for 124 yards as Lehigh’s offense totaled a season-best 461 yards.
Lehigh’s other four touchdowns were running plays: Michael Colvin from 4 yards out, Clark and Zach Barket on 1-yard bursts and Jaren Walker on a 2-yard rush.
Marcello Trigg was 14-for-26 for 216 yards with one touchdown for Bucknell (3-4, 1-1).
Temple 40, Toledo 24.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Freshman Bernard Pierce rushed for a career-high 212 yards and three touchdowns and Temple defeated Toledo for the Owls’ fifth straight victory.
Pierce had 40 carries, including scoring runs of 1, 39 and 2 yards for Temple (5-2, 4-0 Mid-American Conference), which has won six straight league games going back to last year.
Lafayette 26, Fordham 21
EASTON — Rob Curley threw two touchdowns and Lafayette defeated Fordham.
Curley, who was 23 of 31 for 305 yards, connected with Mark Layton on a 17-yard touchdown for the first of three scores for the Leopards (6-1, 2-0 Patriot League) in the second quarter.
Davis Rodriguez added two field goals, including a 42-yard kick with three seconds left in the first half for a 13-7 lead at the break.
Penn 9, Yale 0
PHILADELPHIA — Jared Sholly intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown in Penn’s win over Yale.
The win was the third straight for the Quakers (4-2, 3-0 Ivy League) and eighth in the past 10 Ivy League games. It was the first shutout for the Quakers since they beat Princeton 7-0 on Nov. 3, 2007. All the scoring was done in the first quarter. The Quakers took a 3-0 lead against Yale (3-3, 1-2) with a 35-yard field goal by Andrew Samson.
