If the rest of the week is any indication, April showers should, indeed, bring May flowers.

It was a quiet start to the day in the Wyoming Valley. The National Weather Service indicated that it was 43 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Early-morning commuters were treated to red skies as the sun rose earlier in the morning.

This morning’s calm will soon give way to a stretch of rainy weather.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for today, with a chance of rain before 1 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible. Today’s high will climb to the upper 50s. Things should quiet down tonight with mostly cloudy skies. The lows will dip back down to the mid to upper 30s.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected for Thursday, with a 50 percent chance of rain mainly after 11 a.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible. The high will once again reach the mid 50s.

Rain is likely on Thursday night. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation, and between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible. Thursday night’s low will drop to around 40 degrees.

Rain will be likely once again on Friday, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Friday will be slightly cooler, with the high only reaching the upper 40s. The rain will carry on into Friday night, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. The low on Friday night will drop to about 42 degrees.
