McAlister goes 5 2/3 but ’pen loses game late as Bisons rally.

MOOSIC – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got a respectable effort from starter Zach McAlister, but the same can’t be said about the Yankees bullpen
Buffalo’s Jason Pridie hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth inning to lift the Bisons to a 7-6 victory on Friday night on a cold and chilly night at PNC Field.
The Yankees held a 6-2 lead after five innings. However, Buffalo struck for two runs in the sixth and another run in the seventh to set the stage for the game-winning rally.
“Zach did a good job,” said Yankee manager Dave Miley. ”He pitched well enough to win, but we just couldn’t hold the lead.”
McAllister gave up three hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked three.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored three runs in the fifth, including an RBI double by David Winfree and an RBI single by Eduardo Nunez to give the Yankees a 6-2 lead. But the Yankee bullpen came up short. Former Philadelphia starter Zack Segovia surrendered the single to Pridie and suffered the loss. Miley said that the pitching staff gave up too many walks (6) and it came back to haunt them.
“We walked a lot of batters and they did too,” Miley said. “There’s no defense against walks.”
Even though Pridie knocked in the winning run, first baseman Ike Davis was once again the star of the game for Buffalo.
Davis, who was 3-for-4 in Thursday night’s 1-0 loss to the Yankees, was 2-for-3 on Friday, including a solo home run that cleared the center field wall with plenty to spare.
It appears to be just a matter of time until Davis winds up in a Mets uniform.
The Yankees outhit the Bisons, 11-7 and everyone in the lineup had at least one hit. Jesus Montero and Kevin Russo led the team with two hits each.
