A rainy Friday will lead into a sunny, warm rest of the weekend.
Overcast skies lingered overhead during the morning commute. It was a warmer morning, with the National Weather Service indicating that it was 54 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.
A 90 percent chance of rain is predicted, mainly after 1 p.m. today. Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rain is possible. Today’s high is expected to reach about 61 degrees. The chance for rain will linger on into tonight, mainly before 1 a.m. Another tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible. The low will drop to about 39 degrees.
Things should quiet down by Saturday, with mostly sunny skies predicted. Saturday’s high is expected to reach about 70 degrees.
Clouds will move back into the area on Saturday night, with the low dropping to about 48 degrees.
A slight chance of showers is expected before 11 a.m. on Sunday, with a high in the lower 70s. Winds could gust as high as 28 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Sunday night, with the low dropping to about 55 degrees.
