WALTER CHARLES CRAWFORD, 61, a photojo

WALTER CHARLES CRAWFORD, 61, a photojournalist who had worked for WBRE in Wilkes-Barre from 1972-1982 and Washington’s WJLA TV station since 1982, died of cancer Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010. He lived in Fairfax County. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Barbara Crawford, Fairfax, Va. (originally of Kingston); two children, Justin Crawford, Fairbanks, Alaska; and Lauren Crawford, Blacksburg, Va.; his mother, Muriel Scovel, Frederick, Md.; and his two beloved black Labradors, Buck and Emmy.

A memorial service was held in Herndon, Va., on Feb. 20, 2010. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to Hampshire County Animal Control, P.O. Box 174, Bloomery, WV 26817, (304) 947-5112.
