Rain began to fall in downtown Wilkes-Barre shortly before 7 a.m. It was a warm start to the dreary day, with the National Weather Service indicating that it was 63 degrees.
The temperature is going to climb to about 66 degrees by noon, while the rain is going to continue to fall. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain is possible. The temperatures will gradually drop to about 38 degrees.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 8 a.m. this morning to 10 p.m. tonight.
That drop it temperatures will create a variety of precipitation types tonight before 9 p.m., including rain, snow and sleet. Scattered snow showers are expected between 9 p.m. and midnight, followed by scattered flurries after midnight. Tonight’s low will drop to the lower 20s.
