Karpovich

Sgt. 1st Class John Paul Karpovich is the keynote speaker for the Veterans Day ceremony to be conducted by the Korean War Veterans Association of Wyoming Valley at 1 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 10 in the main lobby of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 1 1 1 1 East End Blvd., Plains Township. Karpovich joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in February 1994 during his junior year at Hanover Area Senior High School and is assigned as battalion senior personnel services sergeant at the 109th Field Artillery in Wilkes-Barre. His many awards include the Soldiers Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, three Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbons, two Pennsylvania Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Medals, the General Thomas R. White Medal; and the General Thomas J. Stewart Medal. Karpovich is a member of Black Diamond American Legion Post 395 and a life member of AmVets Post 59 in Hanover Township. He serves on the Board of Directors of the NortheastPA Veterans MultiCare Alliance. He and his wife, Tavelynn, have two children, Georgia and Hailey.

Major Chris Lincoski, MD, has returned from Afghanistan where he served as a trauma surgeon with the 455th Expeditionary Medical Group at Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram Airfield. Lincoski provided combat medical support services to U.S. and coalition forces throughout Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. He has served as a flight surgeon at McGuire Air Force Base, Lakehurst, N.J., and at Eglin Air Force Base, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He is a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, and is employed at University Orthopedics, State College. He is the son of John and Mary Lincoski, former residents of Jackson Township, and resides in State College with his wife, Susan Lincoski, DVM, and their daughter, Paige Marie.

Navy Seaman Recruit Jamie A. Watts, grandson of Geraldine Laubach of Benton, has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Watts completed classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.
