The Lackawanna County Commissioners Corey D. O’Brien, Jim Wansacz and Patrick M. O’Malley are hosting a free, informative day for families and residents to relax, learn about vital County services, and experience the variety of youth activities available at PNC Field.
Lackawanna County “Family Fun Day” is set for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at PNC Field, Moosic.
“Families are the foundation of our community. This event is the perfect venue to spend quality time with your children and friends and to enjoy the amenities of PNC Field,” Commissioner O’Brien said. “It’s a chance to be on the field, get a behind-the-scenes look at the clubhouse, use the Family Fun Zone, sample ballpark food and enjoy a leisure day.”
“Our Family Fun Day was designed to be a fun and informative event,” Commissioner Jim Wansacz said. “Folks will have free reign to experience all facets of PNC Field and also meet members of our various departments to learn about programs that they may be able to utilize. A variety of reference materials will also be available that may be useful in the future.”
“This program is about families,” Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley added. “It is about having people relax and enjoy the accommodations at PNC Field.”
The lineup for the day includes family activities, tours, food and information stations.
Display tables, featuring County staff members, will be interspersed throughout the concourse.
The departments participating in Family Fun Day are: Community Relations, Elections, Drug & Alcohol, Area Agency on Aging, Parks & Recreation, Lackawanna County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Environmental Sustainability, Bookmobile, Sheriff, COLTS, and Arts & Culture.
Materials from Veterans Affairs, Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, Highway Safety Program and the Penn State Extension will be available.
The Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders staff will be directing tours. The Family Fun Zone will be open and children will also be able to run the bases.
The Sheriff’s Office will be providing horse rides on the mounted unit. The Sheriff’s canines will also be on hand for demonstrations.
There will be face-painting and balloon art giveaways.
The RailRiders’ mascots will be “working the crowd,” signing autographs, posing for pictures, and providing handshakes and hugs.
Music, giveaways and ballpark food are also on tap. A limited number of concession stands will also be open for purchases.
