The Commonwealth Medical College (TCMC) American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Student Chapter will hold a Community Baby Shower on May 3. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our Medical Sciences Building, located at 525 Pine St., Scranton.
The baby shower is free and open to mothers-to-be and expectant families with limited resources living in TCMC’s 16-county region of northeast and north central Pennsylvania. During the event, moms-to-be will play shower games and receive donations of new and gently used baby items.
TCMC’s ACOG Student Chapter strives to gain an understanding of what is involved in a career in OB/GYN, inform medical students at all stages of training about the educational, community and legislative aspects of OB/GYNs, and improve and promote awareness of women’s health issues in the community.
“We recognize that not every woman receives a personal baby shower and think this event will be a terrific way for us to give back to our local community by making our moms-to-be feel appreciated, provide some helpful education, and welcome our community’s newest members,” said Laura Heck, a third-year medical student and member of TCMC’s ACOG Student Chapter.
