WILKES-BARRE — East Main Street in the area of Scott Street is closed due to a ruptured 10-inch water pipe that buckled a large section of pavement Tuesday morning.
Police closed the intersection just after 8 a.m. when the rupture was first noticed.

Susan Turcmanovich, spokesperson for Pennsylvania American Water, said crews shut off the water main to begin repairs. She said about 60 customers are without water on East Main, Brogan, and Mayock streets, Waddell Place, Dewey Lane and Kelly Avenue.
A resident of East Main Street said a rupture in a water pipe happened in the same area about seven months ago.
Turcmanovich said crews restored water to customers just after 3 p.m.
