East Main Street in the area of Scott Street was closed Tuesday after a ruptured 10-inch water main caused a large section of pavement to buckle. Police closed the intersection just after 8 a.m. when the rupture was first noticed. Susan Turcmanovich, spokeswoman for Pennsylvania American Water, said crews shut off the water main to begin repairs. She said about 60 customers were without water on East Main, Brogan, and Mayock streets, Waddell Place, Dewey Lane and Kelly Avenue, and service was restored just after 3 p.m. A resident of East Main Street said a rupture in a water pipe happened in the same area about seven months ago.
