LARKSVILLE — Borough police were dispatched to an Orchard Street residence at about 6:20 p.m. Monday for a report of a young girl on a bicycle who had struck a mailbox, causing damage.

The homeowner told police he heard a young girl screaming outside his residence and saw that the girl rode her bicycle into his mailbox.

Police located the girl and her mother, who said her daughter had been riding her bicycle in the area, lost control and struck the mailbox.

The girl had some marks and bruises on her leg, and the mother told police that her husband was on the way home and they would be taking their daughter to the hospital, police said.

The homeowner wanted the parents to pay for a new mailbox, and police advised both parties it would be a civil matter because the damage was not intentional. The homeowner said he would drop off an estimate for the parents, police said.
