WILKES-BARRE —A man faces several charges after he allegedly beat up his girlfriend and his mother.

City police were dispatched to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital at about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two women who had been assaulted.

One of the women told police that she had been to a doctor’s appointment with her boyfriend, Darian Twyman, and their 4-year-old daughter earlier in the day and, after leaving the appointment, Twyman became angry because it took so long.

Twyman’s girlfriend, who is 32 weeks pregnant, told police that as the two of them argued, Twyman slapped her in the face with an open palm, causing her glasses to puncture her skin, police said.

The woman told police that Twyman drove her to the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Hospital emergency room, but he forced her back into the vehicle because she refused to leave her child. She said Twyman then beat her in the face with a plastic bag full of plastic bowls as he drove them to his mother’s house at 199 S. Hancock St., police said.

Police say Twyman exited the vehicle and went to the residence, where he spoke with his mother.

Twyman’s mother told police she went to the vehicle to get her granddaughter, but Twyman reached into the vehicle over the child seat and continued to assault his girlfriend, who was trying to remove the child from harm’s way, police said.

Twyman’s mother told police she pulled on her son to get him out of the vehicle, and he then punched her in the face and threw her to the ground, police said.

The women and the child were able to get inside the mother’s home and lock the door. Twyman allegedly continued to make threats and tried unsuccessfully to get in the residence, then allegedly took a car jack and used it to smash the front passengers side window out of his mother’s Dodge Minivan, police said.

Twyman then got into his White Chevrolet Caprice Classic and left the scene.

Police said Twyman, 22, of East Main Street, Nanticoke, will be charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call police at 570-826-8106.
