The RailRiders’ eight-game, nine-day road trip has finally come to an end.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre returns home to PNC Field to start an eight-game homestand tonight at 6:35 p.m. against Indianapolis.

Before the team got on the bus to head back to Moosic on Sunday, it had to take care of business against the Tides. And, that’s exactly what the RailRiders did. They pounded out a season-high 18 hits and 16 runs, while everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit and one run scored en route to a 16-2 thrashing of Norfolk, less than a day after falling the Tides by eight runs at Harbor Park.

The RailRiders scored in the first four innings, on Sunday afternoon, including a seven-spot in the top of the fourth to open a 12-0 lead. After three innings, they chased Norfolk starter Suk-min Yoon, who allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits. Ramon Flores (2 for 5, 2 runs, 3 RBI) had one of the big hits in the first three innings, walloping a two-run homer in the second for his second longball of the season.

Leading off the fourth, Antoan Richardson (3 for 3, 3 runs, 2RBI) hit his second homer of the season. The RailRiders weren’t done after the big fourth inning. They tacked on four more runs in the top of the sixth highlighted by a two-run triple from Dean Anna (3 for 5, 2 runs, 3 RBI) to open a 16-0 lead. Zoilo Almonte also had a big game for SWB going 3 for 5 with two runs batted in.

The beneficiary of all the runs was Joel De La Cruz, who made his Triple-A debut. The 24-year-old right-hander pitched six innings allowing just three hits and one run, while fanning four and walking one. The lone run he gave up was in the bottom of the sixth when Cord Phelps led off the frame with a solo shot. Adonis Garcia, Corban Joseph and Jose Pirela all had two hits apiece for SWB.

Right-hander Shane Greene (0-0, 7.50) takes the mound for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight and will be opposed by Indianapolis righty Adam Wilk (3-1, 4.03).
