Despite today’s expected warm temperatures, indoor activities might be the best bet, as scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day.

Fog and mist greeted parts of the Wyoming Valley this morning, along with a temperature of 64 degrees recorded at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport just before 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

Humidity was at a mucky 87 percent.

Today’s high is expected to top off at 71 degrees, but don’t expect to see much sun. Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast, and there’s a 40-percent of precipitation throughout the day.

New rainfall amounts of less than one-tenth of an inch are predicted, but higher amounts are possible if thunderstorms materialize.

The showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue all the way through the day, up until about 11 tonight, after which it will start to become mostly clear. expect an overnight low around 50 degrees.

And don’t despair, the weekend won’t be a total washout.

Sunday should be a sunny day, with a high near 75, so mom won’t have to worry about getting soaked when you take her out for a Mother’s Day brunch or dinner.
