Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz recently announced the March and April 2014 monthly reports for District Court 11-1-04. The court serves Avoca, Dupont, Duryea, Hughestown, Yatesville, Jenkins Township, Pittston Township and Pittston City.


During April, 642 cases were filed in District Court 11-1-04. Criminal complaints, including misdemeanor and felony charges, totaled 42 filings. Civil complaints involving amounts in controversy of up to $12,000 totaled 29 filings. Landlord-Tenant complaints totaled 21 filings. A total of 457 traffic citations were filed along with an additional 93 Non-Traffic summary citations.


The office collected and disbursed the statutory fines and costs due to each municipality according to state law as follows: $2,322.61 to Avoca; $920.02 to Dupont; $1,179.36 to Duryea; $212.23 to Hughestown; $653.55 to Jenkins Township; $419.01 to Pittston Township and $1,426.02 to Pittston City. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania received $31,029.39 and Luzerne County received $6,235.57.


District Judge Kokura Kravitz performed six weddings during the month of April.


During March, 595 cases were filed in District Court 11-1-04. Criminal complaints, including misdemeanor and felony charges, totaled 32 filings. Civil complaints involving amounts in controversy of up to $12,000 totaled 20 filings. Landlord-Tenant complaints totaled 17 filings. A total of 413 traffic citations were filed along with an additional 113 Non-Traffic summary citations.


The office collected and disbursed the statutory fines and costs due to each municipality according to state law as follows: $3,468.89 to Avoca; $630.44 to Dupont; $1,006.80 to Duryea; $304.89 to Hughestown; $930.30 to Jenkins Township; $1,729.16 to Pittston Township and $1,957.80 to Pittston City. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania received $31,653.43 and Luzerne County received $6,890.77.


Kokura Kravitz performed eight weddings during the month of March.
