KINGSTON — A homeless man accused of assaulting a woman on the levee near Church Street waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Paul Roberts on Wednesday.

Jarrett Bidding, 22, waived charges of robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, criminal attempt to kidnap and terroristic threats to Luzerne County Court. He remains jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $100,000 bail.

Kingston detectives allege Bidding attacked a woman walking on the levee on May 9. Bidding dragged the woman down the levee toward a wooded area along the Susquehanna River and threatened to kill her with a knife that he pulled out, police said.

Police said the woman fought Bidding and escaped. She suffered lacerations on her arm during the alleged attack, police said.
