The MPB Community Players will delve into magic, fantasy and fairy tales for their sixth annual Variety Show, to be held June 13, 14 and 15.
This year’s theme is “Pure Imagination,” and the show will include modern music, classics, oldies, and plenty of songs that tell tales. Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 N. Church St., Hazleton, is the setting for the show, and proceeds from this year’s production will benefit Helping Hands of Hazleton.
Besides songs, other performances will come in the form of “Fractured Fairy Tales.” Short skits use the style of the classic 1960s cartoon to tell off-beat versions of old time stories, like “Tom Thumb,” “The Elves and the Shoemaker,” and “Rumpelstiltskin.”
The cast features more than 30 performers who range from pre-teens to senior citizens. Shows on June 13 and 14 begin at 7 p.m. Sunday’s show is a matinee, beginning at 2 p.m. Reserved seating is available at $7 for adults and $4 for children. Call 570-454-0178, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets will also be available at the door for $6 and $3.
