PLYMOUTH — Council unanimously voted to appoint Mike Thomas as full-time borough police officer at Tuesday’s meeting.
Thomas began a 180-day probationary period on Wednesday at an hourly rate of $11.21, without benefits, vacation time, sick time, personal days or any other rights or benefits under the current collective bargaining agreement. Following the probationary period, Thomas will receive an increase in pay, as well as all other benefits given to the borough’s full-time officers.
Council approved the recommendation of Earl Cunningham to serve in the non-paying position of emergency management coordinator. This recommendation will now be forwarded to Gov. Tom Corbett for his signature of approval.
Council also approved a $1,500 donation to the Larksville K-9 unit.
In addition, council approved the appointment of Holly Spece to the position of treasurer in addition to current duties as borough secretary. Spece will now hold the title of secretary/treasurer.
On June 21, Plymouth Borough’s Community Day/Community Flea Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new East Main Street parking lot. Residents or vendors can rent an 8-foot table space for $10. There also will be a ceremony for the borough’s police officers at noon.
