DUNMORE — The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) board of directors on Thursday appointed Kerri Gallagher to lead the Pennsylvania’s largest public employee union’s northeast operations.
Gallagher now is director of District Council 87, the northeast region made up of nine counties including Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wyoming counties.
Gallagher joined the union 1992 as a recording secretary, and in 2006, she was hired as a staff representative with the district council.
“Kerri’s dedication and experience with AFSCME will help to keep Council 87 moving in the right direction,” David Fillman, Pennsylvania council executive director, said in a news release Thursday.
District Council 87 represents about 5,000 workers in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
