WILKES-BARRE — City police said they arrested three juveniles - a 13-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy - after investigating a disturbance in the area of Horton Street and Carey Avenue just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police allege the three children charged at officers when two women were arrested on public drunkenness offenses.

The incident began with police investigating a fight. After the situation calmed down, police left but returned a short time later when the fight resumed.

Police said they detained Jazmine Gutierrez, 30, and Chareeda Lewis, 30, as they allegedly exhibited signs of being highly intoxicated. While taking the two women into custody, police said the juveniles became extremely combative and refused to stop and desist their behavior.

The juveniles charged at officers who used force to stop their actions, police said.

Police said the three juveniles were charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism and disorderly conduct, and were jailed at a juvenile detention center.
