PLAINS TWP. — A man wanted by the Pennsylvania Department of Parole was captured by township police outside a motel on state Route 315 early Tuesday morning.


Police said Jerome Lamar Yates, 29, last known address as Oakwood Lane, Wilkes-Barre, was allegedly found with marijuana and crack cocaine hidden in his underwear.


Yates was spotted parking a vehicle in the parking lot of Microtel just before 3 a.m.


Police said Yates kept his hands in his pants where bags of marijuana and crack cocaine had fallen to the ground, according to the criminal complaint.


Yates was wanted by the state parole department for a violation.


Police charged Yates with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and false identification to law enforcement. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.
