More than 12,000 UGI Utilities — Electric Division customers have had their service restored since restoration efforts began on Tuesday following a storm with tornado-force winds. But as of this afternoon, about 3,100 customers remained without power, a UGI spokesman said.

UGI expects 90 percent of customers affected by the outage to be restored to service by no later than Friday evening. The widespread nature of the damage and the significant number of trees and wires down across the UGI service territory continue to impact restoration timeframes, UGI spokesman Joe Swope said.

UGI has joined with the American Red Cross – Northeast PA Region to provide a cooling station for affected customers at the Lehman Municipal Building, 1183 Old Route 115. Customers can pick up ice and water and recharge electronic devices there until 8 p.m. today and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday.

The West Side Career and Technology Center (West Side Tech) closed down its cooling station operations this morning.

Customers experiencing an outage should call UGI at 1-800-276-2722, but the report should be made only one time, so customer service representatives can address all customer calls as promptly as possible. Customers seeking additional information on the UGI Electric outage can visit the UGI website at www.ugi.com/outages.
