WILKES-BARRE — A man formerly from Hazleton was sentenced Monday in Luzerne County Court to time served and granted immediate parole for robbing and assaulting another man in Freeland.

Judge Fred Pierantoni III sentenced Robert Demelfi, 25, last known address as Grant Street, Hazleton, to one to 23 1/2 months in jail on charges of robbery, criminal trespass, simple assault and theft. He was fined $200 on summary citations of harassment and disorderly conduct.

Demelfi was given credit for time served in jail and was immediately placed on parole. His probation will likely be transferred to Bradford County where he is now residing.

Freeland police charged Demelfi with entering a business on Centre Street and punching the owner in the face on Oct. 10, 2013. Demelfi removed $200 from the owner’s pockets and rummaged through a residence attached to the business, according to the criminal complaint.
