ASHLEY — State police are investigating a one-vehicle crash which claimed one life Thursday, and left two others injured, one seriously.


Driver Debra Paolucci lost control of the vehicle around 4:40 p.m., state police said, and the Chevrolet Tracker she was driving flipped into the grass along the off ramp at Exit 165B of Interstate 81. Angelique Wolfe was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, state police said.


According to a news release, the second passenger, David Paolucci, was the only person in the vehicle wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, and he escaped with only minor injuries.


State police said the three occupants, all of Sugar Notch, were transported to the hospital by ambulance before troopers arrived on scene.


The ramp, which connects I-81 to Route 309 was closed to traffic Thursday afternoon as state police investigated the scene of the incident. State police said the investigation is ongoing.
