Exeter Borough terminated former police Sgt. Leonard Galli Thursday in a special meeting of the borough council, Galli confirmed.

He said Thursday night he would not comment further on the borough’s decision without legal advice.

Galli was suspended from the police force in February after the borough accused him of using his work computer for personal business, viewing pornography and setting up sexual encounters.

Kimberly Borland, Galli’s attorney, said Thursday that he and his client will continue to enforce the agreement they made with the borough earlier.

“The government is as obliged to abide by its agreements as any citizen or taxpayer,” Borland said. “No government is above the law.”

According to a lawsuit filed by Galli in April, the borough illegally backed out of a discipline agreement, under which Galli agreed to take a demotion and pay cut and the borough agreed to keep all details of his suspension confidential, the Times Leader reported in May.

The borough has said previously that thousands of pornographic photos and videos containing “the most extreme, graphic hardcore imagery” were discovered on a borough computer regularly used by Galli.
