A post on the White House’s We the People website would petition the Obama Administration to cease Section 8 subsidies to the Sherman Hills apartment complex.

But before it earns a response from White House staff, it first must gather 100,000 signatures by Aug 15.

The petition, created July 16 by “L.G.,” contains a number of ambiguities, grammar and spelling errors.

“We would like any and all Government monies to cease being funneled into this housing project. It is riddled with crime, drugs, shootings and it destroying are area,” the petition reads. “It has caused an entire town to become dangerous. We would like the Federal Government to take over the community and transform if to a community for Veterans to safely reside in.”

At time of writing, the post has 58 signatures, mostly from individuals claiming residence in Wilkes-Barre or elsewhere in Northeast Pennsylvania. A number of signers do not disclose location, and one comes from New Hampshire.

The website, www.petitions.whitehouse.gov, says it allows anyone aged 13 or old to create or sign online petitions. Though terms of use change from time to time, a petition created currently must reach 150 signatures in 30 days to become searchable, and 100,000 to get a response.

Some top earning petitions on the site include requests to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization and pardoning Edward Snowden.
