College chorus seeks singers
The College Misericordia Choral Society welcomes new members for its spring
concert, “A Night at the Opera,” scheduled for May 2. Music from the opera
choruses of Verdi, Scott Joplin and others will be included in the programThe
chorus is open to all interested members of the community, and no audition is
necessary. New members will be accepted through Tuesday.
Choral Society rehearsals are held every Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
in the Kennedy Lounge in Merrick Hall at the college.

WYOMING
Slovak League will meet
The Luzerne County Slovak League of America Branch 474 will meet at 2:30
p.m. Sunday at the Wyoming Hose Company No. 2 on Third Street.
New officers will be elected.
After the meeting, an open house testimonial dinner will be held to honor
the new officers. District Justice Andrew Barilla of Swoyersville, who will
install the new officers, will be keynote speaker. The Rev. Joseph Ziobro,
pastor of Sacred Heart Slovak Church in Wilkes-Barre, will give the invocation
and benediction. The group also will name its “Man of the Year.”
Present officers include President Joseph Tirpak, Vice President Barilla,
Secretary Joseph Zavada and Treasurer George Hizny.
