A local elementary school teacher who took a leave of absence to appear on the TV show ‘The Bachelor’ has been receiving some attention for a video she was appeared in.

Elise Mosca, a Heights Elementary School teacher, appears in the video “Yule Log Hotties,” which features her and other women in lingerie. A blogger has posted a clip of the video to the internet site YouTube, and it has become the topic of social media and radio talk shows in the area.

District Solicitor Ray Wendolowski said he has been asked to look into the matter to see if Mosca has done anything that constitutes grounds for termination, and that he is researching the matter for the school board. Wendolowski noted that, even though Mosca is on unpaid leave with no benefits, she is still bound by the state school code and could be subject to termination if she has violated the code.

Mosca could also be subject to disciplinary action independent of the school board’s actions if the state Professional Standards and Practices Commission deemed any of her actions in violation of state standards.

The school district’s teacher contract allows unpaid leaves for family or military purposes, but Wendolowski said the board grants unpaid leave without asking for reasons because it falls under “past practices.” Wendolowski said the board has been doing it for years and if a request for unpaid leave were denied the teacher in question would likely file a grievance based on past practices.
