Lackawanna County and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are offering Northeastern Pennsylvania residents an opportunity to create their own field of dreams scenescape.

Experienced mural artists residing in the counties of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Wayne, Pike, Wyoming or Susquehanna are invited to apply to create an eye-catching, unique mural for the indoor entrance wall of the Mohegan Sun Club and Suite Level at PNC Field. Artists may apply as an individual or team.

Designs should be family-friendly and capture the magic of baseball, Northeastern Pennsylvania and the community.

Three finalists will be decided by a selection committee, and the public will have a chance to vote for the winning mural during the Feb. 14 to 24 timeframe on the RailRiders website – www.swbrailriders.com. The winning artist will receive a $5,000 cash award to complete the mural as well as two season tickets for the 2014 season. The mural will be unveiled for the Meet the RailRiders Party on April 2.

Application guidelines can be downloaded from the Lackawanna County website www.lackawannacounty.org. Artists may also contact the Lackawanna County Arts and Culture Department at 570-963-6590 or artsculture@lackawannacounty.org to request a copy.

Two information sessions will be held at the mural site on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 5:30 p.m. Interested parties can register for an information session through the Arts and Culture Department.
