Referees breaks up fights between Sabres and Senators players during the second period at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, N.Y., Thursday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Drew Stafford scored the lone shootout goal, lifting the Buffalo Sabres to a 6-5 win over the Ottawa Senators Thursday night.
Stafford also had two assists in helping the Sabres rally from a two-goal deficit, and overcome the loss of co-captain Chris Drury, who left the game in the second period with a deep cut across his forehead.
Drury, who also scored, was hurt after being blind-sided by Ottawa’s Chris Neil — a hit that sparked a wild melee that involved all 12 players on the ice.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Glen Wesley scored a short-handed goal 16 seconds into overtime to give Carolina a victory over Philadelphia.
Justin Williams brought the puck down the right side and into the slot, and left the puck for Wesley, who snapped it past Antero Niittymaki for the winner.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Colby Armstrong scored at 2:39 of overtime to lead Pittsburgh to victory over Florida.

NEW YORK — Jamie Langenbrunner scored the decisive goal in the shootout after Zach Parise got New Jersey even in the third period, and the Devils swept a home-and-home series from the Rangers.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Randy Robitaille scored the only goal of the shootout to lead the Islanders to a come-from-behind victory over Toronto.

ATLANTA — Martin St. Louis scored with 1:16 left in overtime to lead the Tampa Bay to victory over Atlanta and into first place in the Southeast Division.
