It’s cold outside.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was -5 degrees at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport as of 6:54 a.m. The wind chill made it feel like -21 degrees.

That brutal cold was enough to make many schools operate on a 2-hour delay this morning. Each public school district in Luzerne County is operating on a delay.

Temperatures will struggle to break the single-digit range today, with a high of 9 degrees predicted with sunny skies. The wind chill will make it feel like -25 degrees. Clouds will increase overnight tonight, with a low around 1 and the wind chill making it feel like -9 degrees.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected tomorrow, with the high climbing to the mid to upper teens. Partly cloudy skies are expected Thursday night with a low around 4 degrees and a wind chill as low as -10 degrees.

Mostly sunny skies are expected on Friday, with a high near 16 degrees, followed by mostly cloudy skies on Friday night. Friday night’s low will be around 12 degrees.
